Stargazing LIVE returns for a third three-night series from 8-10 January 2013 to encourage everyone – from the complete beginner to the enthusiastic amateur – to make the most of the night sky.

And with scores of Stargazing LIVE events occurring across the UK throughout January and February 2013, there will be some incredible opportunities for making the most of the night sky.

Some of the topics covered in this series include: A special look at Mars exploration. Dara and Brian reveal how the depths of space can shine a light on the distant past. And on the third episode: Dara and Brian discuss meteors, asteroids and comets and their surprising secrets. – a subject many visitors to meteorwatch.org will find very interesting with all the other topics covered.

As well as the main program, there will be an after show program called “Back to Earth” where Brian, Dara and their guests return to celebrate all things astronomical.

HUNDREDS of other organisations are planning events and activities up and down the country including local communities, astronomical societies, science centres and schools. To find an event near you visit the BBC’s Things To Do website.
